HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair

The HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair is one of the biggest electronics fairs in the region. Here, you’ll learn about the latest technology ideas & trends. Thousands of service providers that work with inspection, certification, testing and other related services exhibit at the fair.

How to sign up for HKTDC’s International Electronics Fair

As the fair is managed by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the application process is the same as for the other fairs managed by HKTDC.

You need to make a pre-registration on or before the 6th of April (2020), the fair is held in mid April. The admission fee is 100 Hong Kong dollars.

How to reach HKTDC’s International Electronics Fair

The Electronics Fair is held in the same venue as the other fairs managed by HKTDC.

You can reach it by bus, MTR (Red Line), ferry or by taxi. For more information, check the section “How to reach HOFEX” above.

Founded in 1970, Global Sources is a large B2B media company listed on NASDAQ and headquartered in Hong Kong. The company helps with sourcing and marketing services. It also helps with verification of suppliers.

Currently, Global Sources manages four different trade shows, namely:

  • Global Sources Consumer Electronics Trade Show
  • Global Sources Mobile Electronics Trade Show
  • Global Sources Lifestyle (Gifts & Home) Trade Show
  • Global Sources Fashion Trade Show

All of the trade shows are held in October each year, starting from 11th – 30th of October (2019).

Global Sources Consumer Electronics Trade Show

The Fashion Trade Show is co-located with the Lifestyle Trade Show.

Interestingly, Global Sources now also manages Asia’s biggest retail startup show called LaunchPad. The show features startups working with AI, 3D printing, VR and other software and hardware companies.

How to sign up for the Global Sources Exhibitions

You can sign up online by providing your personal information and company name. You can also sign up via Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn (see the Visitor Registration page).

Keep in mind that persons aged under 18 cannot enter the fair.

How to reach the Global Sources Exhibitions

The exhibitions are held in AsiaWorld-Expo, which is integrated with Hong Kong International Airport. Thus, you can easily reach the venue by taking the Airport Express at Hong Kong, Kowloon and Tsing Yi Station. It will take you 1 minute from the airport and 28 minutes from downtown.

During the events, Global Sources sometimes provides free shuttle bus service during the events, to and from AsiaWorld-Expo. It’s a first-come, first served system and you can’t make reservations in advance.

HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair

If you plan to sell or buy watches in Asia, then this fair is definitely for you. Held since 1982, the fair solely displays watches of international brands and you get the latest market insights. That said, it’s also a place to network and to meet new business contacts.

In 2018, the fair attracted as many as 830 exhibitors and 21,284 buyers.

How to sign up for HKTDC’s Watch & Clock Fair

You can pre-register online by simply visiting their official website. Fill in your personal information, company name and what industries you’re involved in. Later, you’ll receive a confirmation.

You need to submit the application on or before July 31st (for non Hong Kong buyers).

The same as it goes with other fairs managed by HKTDC, persons under 18 years old cannot enter the fair.

The Watch & Clock Fair is held in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

How to reach HKTDC’s International Lighting Fair

The fair is held in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). For more information on how to reach the fair, check “How to reach HOFEX” above, which is the first fair listed in the article.

HOFEX

HOFEX started out in 1987 and is a leading Food & Hospitality tradeshow, not only in Hong Kong, but in Asia. It’s held biannually and attracts tens of thousands of visitors each time. Here, you’ll find everything from food, drinks, meat equipment, bakery products and more on display.

The venue itself couldn’t be worse either. Being held in the multipurpose-built Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, you’ll be right in Wanchai district, one of the prime areas on Hong Kong Island.

In comparison to many fairs in Mainland China, almost 80% of the exhibitors were foreign in 2019. 2,661 exhibitors from 86 countries visited the fair in that year.

How to sign up for HOFEX

First of all, HOFEX is not open to the general public or persons aged under 18. As such, you need to file an application, before visiting the fair.

You can sign up for the fair online, just click on this link. As the fair is held biannually in May, you can only sign up for it in January and onwards.

The registration is completely free and you’ll simply have to collect your badge, once you’re accepted.

How to reach HOFEX

You can reach HOFEX in three different ways: By MTR, bus, ferry or by taxi.

By MTR: I recommend you to take the MTR, you can simply take the Red Line to Hong Kong Island and exit at Wan Chai Station. After, simply follow the signs and you’ll reach the exhibition centre in around 10 minutes.

By bus: Bus number 40, 40M, 961 and 960 all stop at the exhibition centre. You can also take the airport bus service, which is free, that stops close to the exhibition centre.

By ferry: You can take the Star Ferry which goes between Tsim Sha Tsui and Hung Hom (Kowloon) and the exhibition centre. It’s cheap and normally just cost a couple of Hong Kong dollars.

By taxi: Taxi is another option, but not really needed due to the other options available.

HKTDC Hong Kong Food Expo

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) opened its doors to the Food Expo in August each year (15th – 17th of August in 2018).

The same as it goes with HOFEX, the Food Expo is held in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), focusing on products like bakery products, beverages, organic food, seafood, meat products and much more.

In 2018, more than 500,000 public visitors and 21,668 trade buyers went to the exhibition.

As such, it’s one of the biggest trade fairs for food and beverages in Asia.

How to sign up for HKTDC’s Food Expo

First of all, you need to do a pre-registration on HKTDC Food Expo’s website. The admission fee is 100 Hong Kong dollars from 15-16 August and 40 Hong Kong dollars on 17 August

Keep in mind that you also need to bring business cards to prove that you’re affiliated with the food industry. Other documents might be needed such as relevant business invoices, exhibitor referral, business registration and membership of relevant trade associations.

How to reach HKTDC’s Food Expo

As HOFEX and HKTDC Food Expo are both located in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), please refer to “How to reach HOFEX” above.

You can reach the exhibition centre by ferry, MTR (Red Line), bus or by taxi. I recommend you to take the MTR, which is the most convenient and preferred option.

HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair

Since 2008, HKTDC also manages the International Wine and Spirits Fair in November each year. Not only will you find a number of liquor and beverages on display, the fair promotes wine education, equipment, services and you can get help with wine investment.

As the fair only focuses on spirits and beverages, it’s slightly smaller than the above mentioned Food Expo. In 2018, 18,565 trade visitors went to the fair.

How to sign up for HKTDC’s International Wine and Spirits Fair

To make a pre-registration, visit to the website, go to “For Visitor” and click on “Visitor Pre-Registration”. If you’re based outside of Hong Kong, you should make the pre-registration on or before 13th of October (might vary from year to year).

Here, you need to fill in your personal- and business information, explaining what industries you’re interested in.

It’s free to visit the fair as long as you do the pre-registration before October 13th.

How to reach HKTDC’s International Wine and Spirits Fair

Again, the fair is located in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Therefore, you can either go by bus, ferry, MTR (Red Line) or by taxi.
