Ayutthaya was founded in 1350 and nowadays hosts <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ayutthaya_Historical_Park\" title=\"Ayutthaya old city\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">an archeological site<\/a> that became a popular destination for the tourists that stay in Bangkok as you can easily visit the site in a day. As you can see from the photos, here you&#8217;ll mostly find Buddhist temples. <\/p>\n<h2>From Bangkok to Ayutthaya<\/h2>\n<h3>By minivan (tour)<\/h3>\n<p>I was staying in Khao San Road, the popular backpackers area in Bangkok. So instead of going to the Bangkok train or bus station myself and then find my way once arrived in Ayutthaya, I&#8217;ve being lazy and  took a day tour from one of the many tour agencies that you find in Khao San.<\/p>\n<p>The tour cost me 700 Bath and  included the minivan ride (they pick you up at your hotel at 8 am) to Ayutthaya and through all the touristic spot scattered around the town. The tour also included the lunch (nothing special but it wasn&#8217;t bad). The trip from Bangkok lasts about 2.5 hours and you&#8217;ll be back in Khao San around 5 pm.<strong><!--more--><\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saporedicina.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Ayutthaya-bangkok-1.jpg\" alt=\"Ayutthaya Thailand\" width=\"920\" height=\"613\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4684\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>By bus<\/h3>\n<p>If you want to save money you can take a bus from from <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mo_Chit_BTS_Station\" title=\"Bangkok bus to Ayutthaya\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bangkok&#8217;s Northern Bus Terminal (Moh Chit)<\/a> to Ayutthaya. The ticket costs around 60 Bath. Once you get to Ayutthaya city you&#8217;ll have reach the outskirt in order to visit the archeological sites. Renting a tuk tuk for three-four hours will be much more expensive than getting a tour from Bangkok and moving around on minivan. If you go there alone I suggest you to rent a bike (around 100 Bath).<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saporedicina.com\/english\/traveling-by-bus-in-thailand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here to read our guide on buses in Thailand<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>By train<\/h3>\n<p>You can also reach Ayutthaya by train. Just head to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hua_Lamphong_Railway_Station\" title=\"Bangkok Railway Station\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bangkok Hualamphong Train Station<\/a> and buy your ticket. While second class tickets will cost you more than 200 Bath, you can get a third class ticket for about 20 Bath (but if you travel in third class you have no guarantees to find a seat). <\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saporedicina.com\/english\/traveling-by-train-in-thailand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here to read our guide on traveling around Thailand by train<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saporedicina.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Ayutthaya-bangkok-2.jpg\" alt=\"From Bangkok to Ayutthaya\" width=\"920\" height=\"613\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4685\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Where to stay in Ayutthaya?<\/h2>\n<p>As I said, I was staying in Bangkok, at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agoda.com\/sawasdee-khaosan-inn-hotel\/hotel\/bangkok-th.html?cid=1598521\" title=\"Hotel Bangkok\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Sawasdee Khaosan Inn Hotel<\/a>. If you want to sleep in Ayutthaya I got a suggestion from a friend, who stayed at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agoda.com\/moradokthai-1-guesthouse\/hotel\/ayutthaya-th.html?cid=1598521\" title=\"Ayutthaya Hotel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Moradokthai 1 Guesthouse<\/a>.
